One of my favorite holidays is just around the corner! HALLOWEEN! I love dressing up and enjoying Halloween festivities, but that’s no reason to splurge on Halloween candy. At this time of the year, it’s fun to try new recipes with your family. What better way to celebrate than trying these Homemade Paleo Reese’s Cups!
As a kid, my sister and I would fight over the Reese’s from our Halloween stashes. I knew too much sugar made me feel terrible, but every year I’d still eat soo much candy! And then feel soo sick. So now instead of eating those Reese’s made of fake ingredients, I made some with real ingredients!
These Homemade Paleo Reese’s Cups are made with dark chocolate and almond butter. Any nut butter will do (find my recipe here), and the darker the chocolate the better! I like to look for chocolate with the least amount of sugar. Besides, sugar masks the bold, delicious flavor of chocolate!
My favorite part of this recipe is that I can now enjoy a candy or two without guilt. Instead of making your child or yourself fake food this Halloween, take the extra 20 minutes to make some homemade “candy”!
- 7 oz of dark chocolate (85-90%, about 2 bars)
- 1/2 cup almond butter
- Melt dark chocolate in a double boiler on the stove.
- Fill the mini muffin tin halfway with dark chocolate.
- Add a spoonful of almond butter.
- Top remainder of muffin tins with chocolate.
- Freeze for at least 15-20 minutes.
